Knowledge Under the Pines
May 10 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Chemung River Friends is announcing a series of unique nature education programs featuring presentations held in the middle of shady and tall stand of pine trees in Big Flats, NY.
Called Knowledge Under the Pines, the outdoor classroom provides enough room for people to stay socially distanced, in lawn chairs on a thick carpet of fragrant pine needles. The stand of Eastern Pines grows in the eastern section of the Big Flats Community Park, near the intersection of State Route 352 and Winters Road.
These programs will be held on throughout the Spring and Summer on select Monday evenings from 7-9PM. Topics will include local wildlife, plants, rivers and nature, and will be presented by our former executive director and co-founder, and current volunteer: Jim Pfiffer! This program made possible by the Anderson Foundation. Knowledge Under the Pines is a continuation of the pre-pandemic River Friends public presentations held at the Finger Lakes House in Elmira.
This program will have a Member and Non-member rate, and you MUST pre-register using the Eventbrite link below in the “Ticket” section. To become a member, please visit our website – www.chemungriverfriends.org
The Eastern White Pines will focus on how these trees helped America grow, their role in the Revolutionary War, and how and why we use them today.
DON’T FORGET TO BRING YOUR OUR LAWN CHAIRS!
