Praised by The Boston Globe as “unique and utterly commanding,” pianist-composer Donal Fox has forged a
unique fusion of styles, inspired by Bach, Monk, Schumann, Piazzolla, Coltrane, Stravinsky, and others. Fox
premiered his “Monk and Bach Project” at Jazz at Lincoln Center, his “Scarlatti Jazz Suite Project” at
Tanglewood, and his “Peace Out for Improvised Piano and Orchestra” at Carnegie Hall with the American
Composers Orchestra. In 2013, Donal made a PBS video webcast along with Imani Winds (Civic Music
guests in 2014) for an evening honoring the African American experience in classical music. He was recently
featured at the Skaneateles Festival with his Inventions Trio and special guest Hilary Hahn. He will be
accompanied by his trio for our Civic Music performance.
