3 AMERICANS: CONVERSATION WITH BRUCE MUIRHEAD

May 14 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Free
Join Associate Curator Natasha Bishop for a live, online conversation Bruce Muirhead where they will discuss his practice and the works he has on view in 3 AMERICANS. There will be a Q&A session immediately to follow. This event will be held over Zoom on Friday, May 14th at 6:00pm EST.
Bruce Muirhead holds an MFA from Boston University School of Fine Arts and is Professor Emeritus at Hamilton College, where he taught for 48 years. Through his landscape and portrait paintings, Muirhead challenges the seemingly paradoxical nature of reality and imagination. The landscapes he renders are remembered and imagined scenes of New York and New England. Muirhead incorporates receding frames into each painting, which he treats as viewfinders to capture scenes from across the imagined landscape in his mind. He is interested in the paradox between window and picture; and the difference between vision and the painted surface.
