Festivals, Farmers Markets and Family Fun
In season, there are plenty of opportunities to enjoy the bountiful harvest of Mark Twain Country! Visit Maple Valley Farm Market and several local Farmer’s Markets including the popular Wisner Market in Downtown Elmira to find local produce and goods. Looking for some festival fun? The beautiful Chemung Valley is host to Wine on Ice and the Elmira Street Painting Festival as well as numerous other festivals throughout the year ranging from Hibernian to Italian to Ukrainian and many more!
Traveling with the whole family? Well, the home of Tom Sawyer, Becky Thatcher and Huck Finn has plenty to do for visitors of every age! Spend the day at Harris Hill Amusement Park and enjoy miniature golf, go-cart rides, driving range, kiddie rides and more!
Pick your pony for a ride on the Historic Carousel at Eldridge Park in Elmira. Eldridge Park is also home to the lair of dragon-boat Jasper II who can be spotted cruising the lake throughout the summer months. Would you like to pet a real pony? Well Farmland Animal Park has a whole barn full of four legged friends just waiting to meet you!
Looking to burn off a little extra energy? The Chemung Valley has many green parks and public spaces to be enjoyed. There are even geo-caching sites along the Chemung River on the Sojourn Trail and hidden throughout nature trails at Tanglewood Nature Center and Museum. Tanglewood hosts many family friendly activities throughout the year so there is always something fun to explore!
