As the New Year comes upon us, Elmira is approaching an exciting milestone. The city of Elmira will celebrate its 150th anniversary in 2014 with events throughout the year. During this sesquicentennial year, both the City’s rich heritage and bright future will be honored.
January 13, 2014: City Council will adopt a resolution announcing the 150th anniversary celebration of Elmira.
January 18, 2014: Happy Birthday, Elmira! cocktail party at the Clemens Center.
February 9, 2014: Park Church to Commemorate Thomas K. Beecher’s Birthday
March 9, 2014: Women of Woodlawn Cemetery
March 27, 2014: Taste of Downtown, Arnot Art Museum, 5:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.
April 5, 2014: Community Arts of Elmira and Vintage Fashionistas present: A Sesquicentennial Soiree
April 7, 2014: Re-enactment of the signing of Elmira's Charter, 7:00 p.m., City Hall, prior to City Council Meeting.
April 27, 2014: George Reed Jazz Concert IV, Park Church at 3:00 p.m.
May 3 & 4, 2014: Anniversary of Camp Chemung, All Day
May 25th - September 25th: 18th Annual Wisner Market on Thursdays from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
June 7th, 2014: River Fest
June 14, 2014: Family Fun Day at Eldridge Park
June 26-28, 2014: Schweizer 75th Anniversary Homecoming at Harris Hill Glider Field & National Soaring Museum (Banquet on 26th at NSM from 6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.)
July 13th, 2014: "Elmira Blooms" Garden Tour
July 19-20th, 2014: 7th Annual Elmira Street Painting Festival
August 15, 2014: "Celebrate 150" on East Water Street in downtown Elmira featuring local talent, music, cuisine, crafts, organizations and history and the evening will end with an exciting display of fireworks.
Event hours are 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.
August 16, 2014: 8th Annual Twin Tiers Jazz Festival at Wisner Park
August 23, 2014: Wine on the Tee presented by the Mark Twain Golf Course. A refined wine tasting event featuring Regional Wineries, Craft Beer and Food Vendors on the grounds of the Mark Twain Golf Course, designed by Donald Ross. $30 per person or $50 per couple.

November 1, 2014: Policeman's Ball, 7:00 pm at Elmira Community Arts Building, 413 Lake Street. Formal Attire. Music by Notre Dame HS Jazz Band. Hors D'oeuvres by Classic Cafe McClelland Catering. Beer & Wine by Wagner. Non-Alcoholic beverages by Wegmans. Tickets $40/person or $70/couple available at Elmira Police Department.
November 28, 2014: Annual Holiday Parade with a historical theme of Elmira: Past, Present, and Future celebrating Elmira's 150th.
December 7, 2014: Home for the Holidays Tour

The incorporation of a Signature Event into your group’s calendar will place that event on the Sesquicentennial Event Calendar. In partnership, we ask that your group promote all Signature Events.
